PTA News
Double-scoop your impact! Become a member of the ISD PTA.

You saw it at Friday's Ice Cream Social and hope it serves as a sweet reminder: when we come together, great things happen. This is just the beginning! Every donation helps us continue these programs and find new ways to strengthen our school community. Supporting the PTA makes it happen all year long.

We aim for 100% participation and we are only at 51%! We still have a LONGway to go.

Become a member today and be the cherry on top. Might be a tad cheesy, but "Sundae" just might be the perfect day to join the PTA!

Grade 4 & 5 Families: Chaperones Needed for Finding Nemo Kids (Now!). Grade 5 Stage Crew Slots Still Open!

Grade 5 Families: come be part of the magic and join the Stage Crew for Finding Nemo Kids and help bring the show to life!

What better way to celebrate your last year at ISD! We want every 5th grader to join in this special tradition. And if you’d rather be creative behind the scenes than perform on stage, this is the perfect way to shine!

The stage crew works under the direction of Ms. Brittney Veniga each Tuesday in the Art Room from 3:50 to 5:30pm. The crew will work together to create a set for the Tank Gang and learn how to use the sound board, lighting, and projections.

Sign up for stage crew here

We’re looking for parent volunteers from Grades 4 and 5 to help the Musical cast and crew students transition on rehearsal days for a short period of time from 3:25-3:50pm.

Sign up to chaperone here.

GRADES 4 & 5: CHAPERONE HERE
PTA Green Team Needs Your Help!

Our Green Team is looking for a donation of a gently-used sharing fridge (in good working condition). Unfortunately, our old fridge has quit on us. A tabletop or stand-alone fridge would be perfect. If it's a table-top fridge, it needs to fit on a table that's 17" x 24".

The sharing fridge is an important part of our lunch program - it lets kids place untouched, packaged food (like yoghurt, fruit, individually-packed cheese, muffins etc) inside so that others can take it, helping reduce waste.

Send us an email if you have a fridge to donate!

PTA in Action: Highlights!
Ice Cream Social & Movie Night

What a magical evening it was - with over 600 of you who attended Friday's Ice Cream Social & Movie Night! From the first scoop of ice cream to the last laugh during the movie, your presence turned a simple school event into a cherished memory for our children and families.

The joy on the kids’ faces as they were served ice cream by their “celebrity scoopers,” the excitement at the photo booth, and the warmth that filled the night, all of it was made possible because of you.

Your willingness to step in, sprinkle fun, and share smiles created the kind of atmosphere that makes ISD feel like a true family.

On behalf of the Family Events Team (Khola Minhas, Afsana Zohir) and the PTA, , thank you for bringing your energy, generosity, and heart. You didn’t just help run an event, you made it an experience our students will always remember with happiness.

Thanks also goes to all the PTA volunteers who made this event possible, including Fahmida Lam and volunteers who helped us with safety, the photo booth and clean up. Our Fundraising team (Patricia Martinez-Oteo, Ionela Thomas, and Lais Galiano) who set up SpiritWear and Aaron Shapiro, as Sparky (shh!), were such sweet additions! Our spectacular Communications Team (Andrea Veytia and Betsy Decker) and Webmaster (Jean Hong) who designed the forms, graphics and words to share with you.

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible 6th grade Alumni students, along with all of you dedicated teachers and staff who gave their time, energy, and love to make this event so special - so many of you came!

Patricia Caminiti, Lisa Daur, Jennifer Freeda, Mariko Iwai, Samantha Murphy, Mary O’Connor, Mary Ellen Brezovsky, Shirin Assarpour, Sandra Heikel, Sandy Millspaugh, Danielle Reggina, Rosanna Sangermano, Alison Tepper, Kevin Thompson, Marlene Fernandez, Phil Hammack, Kristina Shane, Bernadette Rivera, Emma Shtufaj, Stefanie Pulitano and Tami Summerton - THANK YOU!

Our thanks also goes out to the custodial team (Luis Alarcon, Brian Kelly, Steve Callahan) for helping us set up and break down everything from the event. If we missed your name, know we still appreciate and are grateful for your help.

Your presence, support, and hard work meant the world to us - truly, none of this would have been possible without you.

If you had photos taken at the event, our Family Events team will be reaching out to you and sharing individual photos. If you do not receive them by next week, please email Family Events here.

Goooo Yankees!

After some serious rain-out drama last April, and desperate nail-biting over last Sunday’s weather forecast, the baseball gods finally smiled on us - sunshine, good vibes, and a great game!

We had a fantastic time cheering on the Yankees vs. Blue Jays. Go Yankees! Thanks to the Family Events team for organizing this event!

Recess Grants: Grade 4 In the Playground!

Mrs. Daur's 4th grade class is excited to receive a brand-new Rocket Blaster, Parachute Men, and Soccer Ball made possible through generous funding from the PTA’s Recess Grant Program. These fun new additions to recess will encourage active play, teamwork, and plenty of smiles. The school community is grateful to the PTA for supporting students’ well-being and helping make recess even more engaging.

What a Good-Looking Bunch!

School Photo Day, an ISD tradition, was held last Monday and what a gorgeous day for photos it turned out to be! It was heartwarming to see the kids and staff smiles light up the fields throughout the day.

Thank you to our PTA Past President, Roli Agrawal, and wonderful parent volunteer Beth Kampf who helped us with the logistics on the day.

Retake day is scheduled for Monday, October 27th.

If you haven't yet ordered your children's photos, click here.

Any orders coming in now will incur an $8.00 handling fee.
