Only 53% of you are PTA Members - that's just half. Please join us today.

We aim for 100% participation and we have only inched up by another percent since last week to 53%. Imagine the impact if we all joined. We can't stress this enough, but we would love to have you be a part of us, as we represent ALL of YOU!

Becoming a member of the PTA doesn't mean that you have to volunteer, although it's always welcome and appreciated. Your membership alone makes a big difference. Please join us today for as little as $40 or as much as you can give.

Join us for the Class Coffees per Grade

We are delighted to invite you to our upcoming "Bring-Your-Own Coffee" grade-level events starting next week. Please mark your calendars according to your child’s grade:

  • Kindergarten – September 29

  • 1st Grade – September 30

  • 2nd Grade – October 3

  • 3rd Grade – September 24 - DONE!

  • 4th Grade – September 26 - DONE!

  • 5th Grade – October 1

Start time: 9:00am (after drop-off) in the ISD Cafeteria

These gatherings have been a great success last week - are a great opportunity for you to connect with Principal Hammack and your Class Parents

Principal Hammack will be providing us with a curriculum update. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about what’s happening in the classroom and how our students are learning and growing this year.

During each session, they will share important grade-specific updates, exciting events planned for the year, and ways you can get involved in our wonderful school and class community. We hope to see you there and look forward to working together to make this school year a meaningful and enriching experience for all our students.

ISD PTA Speaker Series (for Parents): Government 101 (10/6)

Ever wonder who really holds the power and the purse strings?  Who decides how much your school gets? How do you get heard?

John Fisher - PTA Council President for the past 2 years (and current GHS President) who attended every BOE meeting and every BET meeting with the school budgets on the agenda - will present a non-partisan breakdown of the Board Of Education (BOE), Board of Selectmen, BET (Board of Estimate and Taxation), and RTM (Representative Town Meeting).

  • Learn how each of the town boards shape our schools (spoiler: it’s not pretty and it’s not magic)
  • Discover how you can influence budgets, policies, and priorities
  • Get informed to speak up, show up, and make change happen for the benefit of the schools

Whether you're a parent or an educator, a voter or just civic-curious, Greenwich Government 101 will pull back the curtain on the who, what, and why behind our town’s most powerful boards - from the BET’s budget battles to the RTM’s quiet influence.

Come in on Monday, October 6th at 9:00am in the ISD Café and listen to the 30-minute presentation with a chance for Q&A after.

Learn how it works. Learn how to work it.

Please note: This presentation is strictly the viewpoints of John Fisher and is not on behalf of the PTAC, GHS, or ISD PTAs.

Chaperones Needed - Finding Nemo Kids Rehearsals

We need 4th and 5th grade parent volunteers to help students transition before each rehearsal. Duties during the 25-min transition include snack distribution and general supervision. It's an easy and quick way to volunteer.

Rehearsal Days: 3.25pm - 3.50pm on Mon/Tue/Fri
Location: Ms. Mary O'Connor's classroom

Even one rehearsal makes a big difference! Thank you for supporting our students and this year’s production.

Donate a Fridge for the ISD Sharing Table!

Our Green Team is looking for a donation of a gently-used sharing fridge (in good working condition). Unfortunately, our old fridge has quit on us. A tabletop or stand-alone fridge would be perfect. If it's a table-top fridge, it needs to fit on a table that's 17" x 24".

The sharing fridge is an important part of our lunch program - it lets kids place untouched, packaged food (like yoghurt, fruit, individually-packed cheese, muffins etc) inside so that others can take it, helping reduce waste.

Send us an email if you have a fridge to donate!

Meet the Artist behind our beloved Sparky!

Burcu Meric is not only “Mom” to Alp (kindergarten) and Ege (3rd grade), she’s also the talented artist behind Sparky - and all of his many charming iterations. A self-taught artist and illustrator, Burcu discovered her love for drawing as a young girl growing up in Istanbul. Her style blends playful simplicity with bold, easy-to-color designs, drawing inspiration from nature, children, and everyday life with her family.

She has self-published two coloring books (view them here), and dreams of illustrating more children’s books while connecting with people through her art.

You can also find her on Instagram & YouTube: @Mombabaillustrations

School-Wide Brain Break Celebration by Señora Rivera

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 – October 15), ISD will be hosting a School-Wide Brain Break on Tuesday, September 30th!

To celebrate the rich cultures and contributions of the 21 Spanish-speaking countries, students are encouraged to wear a shirt or hat that represents one of these nations. Let’s show our school spirit with color, pride, and creativity!

Students will also have the opportunity to vote for a Spanish song that will be played during the brain break. Get ready to dance, celebrate, and have fun!

In addition, students will be creating flags from Spanish-speaking countries to spread joy, pride, and inclusion throughout our school community.

A special thanks to our wonderful PTA for providing the flags, templates and other materials to make this event extra special for our kids!

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, September 30th. Let’s celebrate together and make this a memorable event! - Señora Rivera
